‘Life After Death’ was a design I made my senior year of high school to illustrate a more celebratory view of death that can be felt in conjunction with the sadness; to celebrate the deceased person’s passing on into the afterlife.
I made this design in photoshop using a drawing pad, then used my savings to purchase 25 blank t-shirts and paid an embroiderer to embroider my design onto the middle of the shirt.
I sold and shipped all 25 shirts within a month to people across the US as well as friends in school.
From conceptualization - to design - to manufacturing, garnering interest and support on a subreddit for small clothing startups, and then selling out my 25 shirts over the course of a month, I can say that this experience was extremely valuable to me and gave me a ton of knowledge around navigating manufacturing processes and garnering support for a product before its release.
